Grading Process for Cronulla Sutherland Junior Baseball Season 2008/2009
The purpose of club baseball is to foster the development of players and the game. Therefore this ideal should be paramount in all decision making.
Purpose of Grading
The purpose of the grading process is to
1 Create a functional structure, which allows players to play baseball (tee-ball)
2 Provide, a level of competition that is as even as is possible, suited to the playing skills of the majority of players in a team, yet will………
3 Challenge and develop players
Grading Principles
The grading process will be as transparent as is possible, with each club given the maximum opportunity to provide input on matters relating to their club.
While grading must be adapted to the logistical realities of available teams, even so, its design is to-
1 Establish competitions with not less than six teams
2 Provide multi divisions in each age group.
Because grading is for the purpose of encouraging and developing players, care must be taken that the process is not exploited, with an over emphasis on winning competitions.
Grading Committee
Grading will be facilitated by a Grading committee composing of
1 Grading co-ordinator-appointed from within the Executive
2 Executive representative –from within the Executive (may vary)
3 Representative appointment-appointed by the executive
4 2 club representatives- appointed by a vote of the general committee
Where possible the duplication of the clubs represented on the committee, should be avoided. In addition to the above, the Association Secretary will hold a non-voting position on the committee.
